Joovy Caboose Stand On Tandem Stroller

Now that we’ve had a chance to try out our new double stroller I am ready to give my review. This is the stroller we went with: Joovy Caboose Stand On Tandem Stroller, Appletree.

I was able to put the stroller together by myself in about 20 minutes (and I could have done it in less time with less distractions) – it’s very easy to put together. The instructions are easy to follow – if anything they are TOO detailed and I found I was a few steps in just by unpacking the box completely before grabbing the book.

Since putting it together we’ve used it a total of 3 times. The first time we were just hanging out at camp with my parents, so the girl used it as a high chair/hangout spot for a little while. She seemed pretty content with it. The tray is awesome for this sort of use – it’s much larger than the one on our old Graco Metro Lite.

The second time we used the stroller to walk downtown and see the Memorial Day parade. The boy rode in the rear seat for the first time and he did pretty well. He’s not quite ready to use it in the standing position – and it only took a little bit of bribery to get him to sit still and hang on while the stroller was in motion. Bring snacks. Raisins worked well for us this day!

Our third trip was to Farm Fest! The girl rode around for close to an hour, while the boy chose to walk on his own most of the time. This is great for that kind of freedom since it’s easy to just reach down and unsnap the bigger kid to let him hop off.

The straps are a bit odd at first – they are not hard to understand but they may make you pause when you first strap your kid in: rather than buckling in through a side slot it goes into the top.

The canopy does actually cover both kids pretty well when they are both seated – but not total coverage. For my pale kids that would burn easily we will probably end up using a different cover that extends a bit further.

The storage is lacking. The basket on the bottom is medium sized and big enough for a small bag – but it’s hard to access with both kids strapped in. And there is not an attached parent tray. We will use a separate bag that can attach to the handle for this.

All in all I give the Joovy Caboose Stand On Tandem 4 out of 5 scoops of awesome! Not too shabby.
